Increase in Full Day Preschool Offerings
Recent studies show that the most important years of a child’s life, from a developmental point of view, occur from birth to age five. From what we have learned about the development of the child’s brain, the early childhood years are extremely important. In the School Funding Reform Act of 2008, the Legislature of New Jersey emphasizes the importance of early childhood education by mandating that school districts provide educational programs for children who are three and four years old. These programs must be implemented during the next five years.
In order to successfully address the educational needs of our school-community, the Winslow Township School District is committed to expanding their preschool programs to include more full-day classrooms for the 2008-2009 school year. These full-day classrooms will be assigned to children who are four years old. There will be no lottery process for children enrolling in full-day preschool. In addition, during the transition period, while our school district is building preschool capacity, half-day preschool will still be available.
The Winslow Township Preschool Program is designed to foster the development of the total child, taking into consideration intellectual, emotional, social and physical aspects of learning. The District’s curriculum supports emergent reading, math, science, social studies and character building skills.
Please impress, upon your congregation, the importance of participation in early childhood education. Additional information regarding our school district’s preschool programs and registration procedures can be found on the District’s website at www.winslow-schools.com. Welcome
The preschool years are a special time in the life of a young child. During this time children grow in many ways. We are very excited about being a part of that growing and learning process with your child. Our preschool program provides a safe and nurturing learning environment that focuses on enhancing the child's social, emotional, cognitive and physical skills.
We offer certified teachers and highly competent instructional aides as well as a small class size for your child. Just like you, we want what is best for your child. By working together we can provide a wonderful preschool experience for your child.

Early Childhood Advisory Council
The mission of the Early Childhood Advisory Council is to create a nurturing environment that supports community partnerships, strengthens families and prepares children to be lifelong learners. Home, school and community partners will work together to the benefit of Winslow Township's young children.
The purpose of the council is to serve as an advisory board to the administration of the Winslow Township School District and provide all early childhood providers, within Winslow Township, with opportunities to link to school district programs. Members of the council will be encouraged to participate in discussion groups and to offer staff member's opportunities to participate in school district professional development activities. As home, school and community partnerships are formed and solidified, we will work collaboratively to further develop the following:
- Winslow Township school district's Early Childhood Operational Plan;
- A bridge between non-public school and public school, primary school educational programs;
- Increase the extent of educational experiences for all of Winslow Township's young children;
- And, increase participation, throughout the community, between the school district and other community organizations and parents of young children.
If you are interested in participating in the growth and development of the early childhood programs, and would like to become involved in our district's Council, please contact Kim Garcia at garciaki@winslow-schools.com. Phone: 609-561-4102 x 7616.
