Job Sampling students begin developing a sense of work through participation in community service projects and completion of tasks for local businesses. Students who exhibit strong work ethics are enrolled in the Job Sampling Program, which offers the opportunity to provide services in ten different businesses on a rotating basis two to three mornings per week. A third tier of work training is designed for students to acquire more in-depth skills at one particular location by being placed for a half-day, five days per week, under the supervision of a Regional Day School job coach. As students mature, instruction focuses on enhancing readiness for the world of work. Development of effective communication skills and an understanding of personal strengths and career preferences are integrated in all situations. The departmentalized academic program provides opportunities for cooperative learning and interaction with instructors who have different expectations.
