Welcome to School 3 - Celebrating 33 Years of Excellence
“The primary purpose of education is to prepare the young, or anyone else, to become a benefit to, and take their rightful place in society.”

At School #3, the staff and administration are guided by the above noted thought. We, together with the community, have initiated programs to address the diverse and changing needs, and build on the strengths of our neighborhood.
We welcome community involvement. This is important since the school cannot successfully carry out its mission without the support of the home. We have a viable functioning Parent/Teacher Organization with all the benefits that accrue from such a body. Through a Parent Volunteer Program, volunteers assist teachers with clerical and classroom tasks and activities. During "American Education Week," we furnished opportunities for parents to visit their children's classes. There are other events such as Open House, Second Grade Family Night, and Family Literacy Night.
We have "Extra Curricular" activities such as "Spirit Days," and "Field Day." Self esteem and good feelings are inspired by our "Kids are Special" and "Birthday Kids" programs, as well as our monthly megaskill. Music and art endeavors are represented by the Winter and Spring concerts and the exhibition of the children's art in our halls.
In respect to curriculum and instruction, we remain open-minded and have endeavored to be creative in meeting the varied needs, interests, and abilities of our pupils.
The instructional staff consists of a competent, committed mix of predominately veteran teachers with a few new people coming on board in the last couple of years.
The faculty includes classroom teachers, as well as art, music, library, and P.E. instructors. Also, one can find a Computer teacher, Reading Specialist, Gifted and Talented teacher, BASE teachers, a Resource Room teacher, Speech Therapists, and a School Nurse. A Child Study Team consisting of a Psychologist, Social Worker, and Learning Disabilities Consultant is also assigned to the building. There is one Administrator.
In addition, there are teaching assistants, secretaries, custodians, Food Service workers, breakfast aides, and lunch aides.
All of these people and endeavors have the purpose of making School #3 a stimulating, productive and pleasant place in which children can learn and grow.
