Star Students portray their BEST qualities in library class.  When they are attentive, ready, and eager to learn in class they "earn" a ticket.

Each day a boy and a girl are chosen from the tickets to select a prize from the prize box.  "Star Students" put thier name on a "STAR" which is hung on the "Star Student" bulletin board.

Our students have been working diligently on their Biography projects in library class.  The project is now moving to their technology classes as well.  They will go to the World Wide Web to find additional information about their famous American.  They will type thier final project and create a book that will include a picture of their person, a table of contents page, a "coin" page, and a bibliography page.

Please ask your School 5 student about their biography project and encourage their efforts.  Young ladies and young gentlemen "Keep up the Hard Work!"    Fondly,  Mrs. Graham and Mrs. Bellaver   :)

Spring 2112          New Projects Coming Our Way!

Our 4th grade students will be furthering their studies In New Jersey history.  The unit will include studies about famous New Jersey children in our past, riddles, symbols, and a chronology of our great history.  We will use The New Jersey Reader by Trinka Hakes Noble as a source for our study.  Look for the worksheets coming home in March.

Our 5th grade students will study different Genres in literature.  Mystery, Science Fiction, Historical Fiction, Realistic Fiction, Fantasy, Oral Tradition, Adventure, etc...   Becoming exposed and familiar with various genres will open doors to many books a student might otherwise never consider.  For ideas about different titles, authors, and series please visit the "Kids Reads" link above.

Our 6th grade students will study different stories of "Cinderella from Around the World."  There are over 700 versions of  the Cinderella tale.  Each depict the culture and beliefs of their origin.  The students will work in small groups and compare their version of Cinderella to the most commonly familar version: Cinderella and the Little Glass Slipper by Charles Perralt.   We will work in correletion with their technology classes and create an online "Wiki" to share their findings with their classmates and thier families.   Please visit their classroom's Wiki page by using the"Cinderella Stories" link above.
