Mrs. Yates' Artist Corner

Winslow School One
Art Classroom, Mrs. Yates

Art education is important for the growth and development of our children. Children use art to experiment and test the boundaries of their creativity. As an excellent stress reliever and coping skill, art plays a huge role in the developmental processes and helps to reinforce learned skills and creativity. In our art classroom at Winslow School One we focus on the exploration of a variety of materials and techniques such as drawing, painting, and mixed media. First, second, and third grade students come to the art room once a week for 35 minutes.

Our projects in the art room:

3rd Grade:
3rd grade students are currently learning about texture, owls, and the writer and illustrator Eric Carle. They are creating textured owls inspired by the work of Carle.

2nd Grade:
2nd grade students are currently learning about landscapes and the writer and illustrator Ezra Jack Keats. They are creating winter action landscapes showing a foreground, middle ground, and background.

1st Grade:
1st grade students are currently learning about landscapes, size, and depth. They are creating winter landscape collages containing a foreground, middle ground, and background.
