Winslow’s School Code for the SAT and ACT is 310-012.

The SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) measures the skills you have learned in and outside of the classroom and how well you can apply that knowledge. The Reasoning test, composed of Critical Reading, Mathematics and Writing, should generally be taken by students in the spring of their junior year and by seniors in the fall of the senior year. Some students should consider taking the SAT Subject tests during their senior year. Go to www.collegeboard.com to register, and to see all dates that the SAT is given at other locations. This website has a wealth of information for students who plan to attend college.

PSAT/NMSQT

The PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) is offered in October each school year. Registration is here at the high school. Juniors who take the PSAT may qualify for the National Merit Scholarship. Similar to the SAT, the PSAT is good practice and also provides access to MyRoad for career planning.

ACT

ACT (American College Test) measures educational development in English, mathematics, reading and science reasoning, with an optional writing test. Go to www.actstudent.org to register, and to see all dates that the ACT is given at other locations.

AP Testing Information

AP examinations are intensive subject-matter tests that offer high school students the potential to earn college credit or advanced placement by the college they choose to attend. Test scores range from 0 to 5. If a student receives a score of 3 or higher on the advanced placement test, it might be possible to earn college credit, be granted a course exemption in college, or gain eligibility for honors and other special programs in college. Enrollment in an AP course is not a prerequisite to sit for an AP exam, but is strongly encouraged. The fee for each exam is $84.00 and results are available typically in July.
