In light of our increasingly global society and economy, the stakes for secondary students to ready themselves for the competitive workforce are higher than ever. The administration, teachers, and support staff at Winslow Twp. High School will continue to place an emphasis on adequately preparing students to do just that. With the assistance of expansive course offerings and cutting-edge technology, the thrust of all teaching and non-teaching staff is to prepare all students to attend college or any post-secondary program, and to become productive, conscious, and independent citizens in today’s pluralistic society.

 

The vitality and value of education must be instilled in our students through the articulation and action of all stakeholders. Educational research has shown that children are better served when there is a cohesive support system in place. Through the ongoing communication and sharing of ideas and best practices between school staff, parents and students, as well as the local community, Winslow Twp. High School endeavors to ensure an effective support system for all students.

 

In order for students to achieve at a high level there are certain cornerstones that must be in place: students must arrive to school and class on time with the intention to learn and the commitment to achieve; lessons must be rigorous and be guided by NJ Core Curriculum Content Standards; administration and staff must acknowledge that if the student has not learned, then the job is not finished; moreover, there must be timely communication between the home and the school with respect to student progress.

 

Furthermore, in today’s society, where youth are inundated with popular culture which tends to glorify anti-social behavior and misogyny, central goals of the high school experience will be to instill the importance of constructive decision-making and character development, neither of which is mutually exclusive, and both of which will be guided and shaped by embedded academic practices and support services.

 

The Winslow Township High School community, staff and students alike, will continue to strive for excellence, with the understanding that mediocrity is unacceptable; “average is over.”
