WTHS Girls Track Update - NJSIAA Group III State Championship

Congratulations to the Girls Track Team for another HERstoric performance at the Group 3 State Championship this past weekend. The ladies capped off a memorable season with a 129-40 victory over the rest of the field. The 129 points, was the most points scored in history, breaking our own 2013 scoring record. It was a complete team effort and everyone rose to the occasion.

·         Jasmine Jackson 1st place 100h, 2nd place 400h, 2nd 200

·         4x100 Amariah Arango, Skhye Seamon, Chantina Walker, Leeya Joseph 1st place

·         4x400  Amariah Arango, Olivia Okaro, Ava Millner and Tristan Hughes 1st place

The ladies will compete at the NJSIAA Meet of Champions on Wednesday in a battle for the best in State.

Group 3: Winslow

Team MVP: Ma’Syiah Brawner, Olivia Okaro, Amariah Arango

Winslow won its second-straight Group 3 title and ninth since 2013 with an eye-popping 129 points to push comfortably past Ocean City (40), Ramapo (35), Absegami (30), Moorestown (28) and others. Freshman Amariah Arango, junior Olivia Okaro and junior Ma’Syiah Brawner each registered 28 points as part of a balanced scoring effort for the Eagles. Brawner picked up gold medals in the triple jump (40-3) and high jump (5-4) to go with fourth-place finishes in the 100 hurdles and long jump. Arango ran legs in Winslow’s winning 4x100 (47.89), 4x400 (3:53.16) and 4x800 (9:19.84) relays. Okaro finished second in the 100 dash (12.18), fourth in the 200 (25.3) and third in the 400 dash (57.8) to go with a leg in the winning 4x400.
